Industrial Designer (Mid-Level)

### Job description Hi, we're Speks a Brooklyn-based (soon to be Manhattan) design company bringing fun back into the workplace and beyond with innovative, adult-focused sensory products. We're growing fast and are looking for a detail oriented Industrial Designer to join our team. This full-time, in-office role will be based in midtown Manhattan. You'll work alongside our Lead Industrial Designer to design, develop and refine all future Speks products! We have many products at various stages of the development pipeline and ambitions to launch products in new categories in the next 12 months. Specifically, the role entails: \- Develop creative and innovative product concepts and designs under the Speks brand. \- Work with our lead industrial designer to develop new products, product extensions, improvements and modifications to existing product lines. \- Design within the Speks brand language, and help define how this brand language will expand across new product categories. \- Run the in-office prototyping efforts for new concepts. \- Produce and review prototypes and execute needed refinements. \- Create and manage a well organized material and sample library. \- Work with our Senior Product Development Manager to turn prototypes and designs into manufacturable products. About you: \- 3+ years of professional experience as an industrial designer. \- Very comfortable with rapid ideation through hand sketching, rough prototyping, and quick visualizations using Illustrator and/or Photoshop. \- Exceptional 3D modeling and surfacing skills in SolidWorks (Rhino and other CAD software a plus). You're more than a modeler - you're a digital sculptor. \- Obsessed with the details. You understand and appreciate form, function, proportion, texture, and the way a product looks AND feels in the hand. \- A bit of a tinkerer. You love exploring new and unexpected concepts, playing with ideas, and aren't afraid to share a half-baked idea that may or may not go anywhere. \- You understand materials and manufacturing. You know the limitations and opportunities of different materials and processes, and can design products that can ultimately be manufactured. \- A collaborative team player who welcomes feedback, is comfortable changing direction, and can adapt as priorities evolve. \- You know the Adobe Creative Suite like the back of your hand. \- Experience in structural package design is a plus.
