Python Backend Engineer

Job Title --------- Python Backend Engineer Job Description --------------- Location: USA & LATAM | Remote Employment Type: Contractor, Full-time What You'll Do: * Design, develop, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using Python, Flask, or FastAPI * Build clean, maintainable, and scalable solutions following Python best practices and PEP8 * Work with SQL databases, particularly PostgreSQL * Develop unit and integration tests using Pytest * Create and maintain API documentation using Swagger/OpenAPI, Insomnia, or similar tools * Integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI-powered functionality into backend applications * Work with Git-based development workflows and participate in code reviews * Debug, troubleshoot, and improve existing backend systems * Contribute to CI/CD processes and development automation * Collaborate with engineers and other team members in an Agile environment * Communicate effectively with an international team in English What We Offer: * Paid vacation and sick leave * Equipment for comfortable work, if required * 50% coverage of professional courses * Competitive compensation based on your skills and experience * Reliable and always-on-time payments * A supportive international team * Straightforward processes without unnecessary bureaucracy * 100% remote, full-time cooperation Restrictions ------------ * **No telecommuting** * **No Agencies Please** Requirements ------------ What We're Looking For: * 23+ years of commercial Python development experience * Strong knowledge of Python fundamentals * Hands-on experience with Flask and/or FastAPI * Experience developing and integrating REST APIs * Practical experience with SQL databases; PostgreSQL is preferred * Experience with unit and integration testing * Familiarity with Docker * Confident use of Git and Git-based development workflows * Familiarity with code-quality tools such as PyLint, Flake8, or similar * Experience or strong practical interest in integrating LLMs into backend applications * Ability to work in Linux and/or Windows environments * English level B2 or higher * Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach * Ability to work independently and effectively within a distributed team * Based in the USA or LATAM Nice to Have * Experience with CI/CD pipelines, such as Jenkins or GitLab CI * Experience with cloud platforms * Familiarity with Kubernetes * Experience with Jira, Crucible, or similar collaboration tools * Previous hands-on experience integrating LLM APIs or AI-powered features About the Company ----------------- About Uvik Software At Uvik Software, we specialize in building dedicated development teams and delivering high-quality software solutions to clients worldwide.
