### Job description
\*\*Entrepreneurial Industrial Designer Potential Path to Ownership\*\*
Have you ever wanted to run your own design firm, but weren't sure how to make the jump?
I'm the founder of an established Southern California industrial design consultancy with an 12-year history of developing products for startups, entrepreneurs, and Fortune 500 companies.
After building and running the business for more than a decade, I've returned to corporate leadership for the opportunity to lead a larger product development team. I'm proud of what I've built and want to give the right person the opportunity to carry it forwardwith my ongoing involvement and support.
I'm looking for an entrepreneurial industrial designer to \*\*lead day-to-day operations, manage projects and client relationships, and grow the business.\*\* I would provide mentorship, strategic guidance, and business development support.
\*\*This is a business opportunity, not a traditional salaried position. An initial financial buy-in would be required, reflecting access to the established brand, website, portfolio, business systems, and support network. The arrangement would also include an ongoing share of project revenue paid for continued mentorship and business support, with a potential path to equity or eventual ownership. The buy-in amount, revenue share, and ownership milestones would be discussed with qualified candidates and agreed upon together.
\*\*Who this could be right for:\*\*
\- An industrial designer with approximately 5+ years of experience and a strong portfolio.
\- A freelancer ready to build a broader business.
\- Someone proficient in CAD, product development, and designing for manufacturing.
\- A self-starter who enjoys working with clients and wants to learn the business side of design.
\*\*What you would have to build on:\*\*
\- An established brand, professional website, portfolio, and marketing assets.
\- Existing business systems, processes, and experience managing projects from concept through production.
\- My guidance on proposals, pricing, project scope, client acquisition, and managing client expectations.
\- Introductions to contacts for business insurance, marketing, and other operational needs.
\- An overseas contact who can support engineering, manufacturing coordination, and communication with factories.
\- Access to my network of prototyping and manufacturing resources.
\- Ongoing advice on balancing design quality, production costs, timelines, and business profitability.
You would bring the design skills, initiative, and commitment to grow the company. I would help you navigate both the product development work and the practical details of running a consultancy.
\*\*Interested? Send me a private message with your portfolio, rsum, and a short note explaining why you want to run a design business.\*\* Company details will be shared privately with qualified candidates following an introductory conversation.
If someone in your network comes to mind, please pass this along.
